Round 8 saw the the Pies head down to Kingsford for a clash of the titans to see who would gain they're first points for the 2008/09 season.

The day started like a typical saturday with both sides rocking up to see the covers on & both sides coaches having a bald off outside the Kingsford clubrooms, which ended up being the only win for the Norchy boys for the day.

With the clouds breaking up this saw the start of play & the start of our President Brett (Dunny Brush) Smith's fitness regime parking his car a distant 50 metres from the clubrooms & walking over before his 13 savs & 23 stubs.

With the Knights winning the toss & sending us in we started well with Rob Dilger (27) & Brad Absolom (8) putting on 44 for the first wicket with 16 extras to help.

After losing Dilgs then Abbo for 8 our courageous captain Ando (68) was next in & went about building a handy 95 run partnership with the next big thing Matt Dilger smashing a very sexy 45.

With the top 4 combining for 186 that laid a very nice foundation for Nath (Skeletor) Philip (18) & myself (37) to take the score past 200, with some handy contributions from the tail we managed to see out the 50 overs 9-253.

The bowling started well with Westy & Trent (Highpants) LeRossignol bowling very tight areas & forcing the run rate above 6 in the first 15 overs.

Unfortunately for Trent & Westy this brought wickets through the middle overs with Kial (Goose) Hingston getting his bowling average below 50 with 2-51, myself 3-50, Ando, 1-33 & Noisy 1-40 with a nice 8 swipe stumping from Bones Philip.

With Kingsford forced to attack Brady Jones had no faith in Jake Steele being the man by calling him through for a single with the ball rolling along the carpet to the best fielder in the universe Rob (Panther) Dilger.

This then brought Brad Lovell to the crease who went about smashing a 48 ball 92 & getting them over the line with 4 balls to spare.

A disappointing result for the Pies but some good signs with some handy contributions across the board, the results can't be far away with the boys facing off against the Townies for The Brian Eade Cup tomorrow at KGV.

Go well boys.
