On a beautiful day at KGV new skipper Rob Dilger won the toss and put Sandy Bay/ South Hobart into bat on a wicket that looked like it would give the seamers some assistance. The Sharks started well with Alex Doolan looking a million dollars. The Pies through some excellent fielding and bowling pressure fought back from 1 for 110 to restrict the sharks to 9/227.

Youngsters Matthew Dilger and Trent Lerossignol both supported the veteran Kelby Pickering with the ball. Tristan Penneyston picked up his 1st wicket with the ball of the century to match Warnes “Gatting ball”.

The Dilger boys were again showing off in the field. Damien West also contributed with a straight forward catch on the boundary that he made look difficult.

The run chase was difficult following the loss of early wickets. Nathan “my backs real sore” Matthews sooked his way to 30 and others made small contributions that left us about 50 short. It was a competitive effort against one of the contenders this year with lots of positives.

We look forward to the week off and preparing well for the clash against Kingborough.
