Round 1 vs Lindisfarne,

A great start to the day with former premiership player & Cricket Tasmania board member Mike Gandy handing out cap numbers 351 & 352 to our new recruits Josh Walmsley & Jack Young, a couple of very talented & great fellas that we hope have the first of many successful years with our club

After a good hit out up at Westbury the Pies were keen to get off to a good start & take down the rebuilding lightning, that was about as positive as they day got.

After winning the toss on a slow looking wicket Dane “grumpy gus” Anderson decided to have a stick in an attempt to set the tone with a big score.

From there the Pies lost steady wickets to be reeling at 5-50 after 11 overs requiring a rescue mission from the tail, Nathan “Hodgey” Matthews did his best with a nice 20 off 27 pills but with 20 runs being the only highlight, the Pies were forced to try to defend a very meagre 96.

New Lindisfarne coach Andrew Downton attacked from ball one taking our attack to all parts of the ground & unfortunately we didn’t respond, losing the game in a very deflating 13 overs.

Not a great start from the Pies with very few highlights to speak of but with an extra seven games added to this year’s first grade roster, there will be opportunities for the boys to respond & get our season on track.
