3rd Grade Go Down In First Game
S.H.S.B 211 def Glenorchy 171
Brennan Ploughman 68
Tim Faltusz 6/31 (10)
Brad McKenzie 2/38 (10)
Brennan Ploughman 1/35 (10)
Third grade's first game saw us take on South Hobart Sandy Bay at Eady Street. We lost the toss and bowled on a wicket that was very green. Brad McKenzie and Brennan Ploughman took the new ball and bowled very well with both taking early wickets to get us on top early. Tim Faltusz came on and ripped through the top order. We had them 6/76 before SHSB skipper Damien Green made a well crafted 98. Drop catches cost us early, also three wickets off no-balls didnt help. They ended up 9/211.
We started the run chase magnificently with Ploughman and Macca putting on 80 until we lost Ploughman (68) then most players got a start but with run rate increasing we lost wickets to finish on 171 from 49.4 overs.
I must mention Woodsy's effort with the bat. He made 11 runs, which wasn't bad considering he had to hold his trousers up while running between wickets, at one stage round his ankles. Might need some new ones Lawrence!!
But all in all not a bad effort to bat our 50 overs (almost). I reckon some work on our fielding and the results will come our way.
