Our first match of the New Year, against Kingborough at Eady Street was hopefully going to bring a change of fortune for our team. We won the toss and batted. Braden Howlett and Tom Coates got our innings of to a great start adding 73 for the first wicket. Michael Badcock kept the score ticking over with a well compiled 29. Tim Spotswood then made an important contribution with an extremely quick 23 to help bolster our total to 181. Tom Coates also batted through the majority of the innings for a great 56.

Through the whole of Kingboroughs innings the game was very tight and it wasn’t until the later overs were we picked up lots of quick wickets that the game was won. We eventually bowled them out for 169 of 48 overs. Michael Badcock was our best bowler he finished with 4/30 of 9 overs Tim Spotswood was also good with the new ball and at the end with 2/25 from 9, through the middle overs Daniel Adams kept their scoring very quiet with 1/13 of 5 overs.

The win keeps us within reach of the top four and if we can sustain this form we can certainly still play finals.
