Round 10 brought the Uni boys out to KGV to take on the Pies on what was surprisingly a beautiful summer day set for some good cricket.

We were going into the game confident with some good results against Uni in the past & with the inclusions of the Bang Bus Brett Geeves & lucky for us Brad Absolom didn't have netball training this week, saw the pies with the best batting line up we'd had for the year.

Unfortunately losing the toss we were asked to bowl first on a pitch that had a little grass but looked to be a beauty for batting, this became evident as Rhett Lockyear went about spanking our bowlers to all parts on his way to 204.His inning was finally brought to a close by the off spin of Brett Geeves after his, we'll say "pedestrian" like pace was unsuccessful earlier in the day.

Trent (Sooky) LeRossignol was the pick of the bowlers with a tidy 3-61 off 14.5 overs, the other wickets were shared around Luke Butterworth, Liam Reynolds & Myself.

With Uni declaring at the start of the second week on a massive 9-415 the Pies were confident of giving the target a good shake, unfortunately losing Liam Reyolds early & Geeves as plumb as you could get soon after we were in trouble. This then brought Dane Anderson in who combined well with Brad Absolom (59) for the third wicket, taking us to 2-97 before Dane kicked the first of 2 balls for the day in line with middle stump.

From then on we lost steady wickets to be all out for 194, the funniest one being Tristan "Chuckles" Penneyston being hit on the big toe with 7 consecutive balls before the umpire stopped laughing & gave him out.

Uni then sent us back in to try for the outright victory which looked to be very much on the cards with the Pies losing steady wickets to be 5-116 before the Dilger show staring Rob (91) & Matt (43n.o.) combined for 117 runs to save outright defeat.

All together a disappointing result for the Pies being out classed the entire game but good to see Geeves Back on the track & some good contributions by a number of players.

The Pies will be looking forward to hitting back this week against South Hobart/Sandy Bay in a Sat/Sun clash at Shark Park.

Go well boys.
