First Grade started their quest to glory with a warm up game against Ando's old club Westbury at Westbury.

The Shamrock's favourite son won the toss and decided to have a stick and it proved to be a wise decision as the pies dusted off the cobwebs to record a good score of 5 for 246 off our allotted 40 overs. Robbie Dilger got through the 90's for the first time in Pie colours as he struck an entertaining run-a-ball 112 retired and Nathan Matthews contributed 42 in his first hit up for nearly a year.

Westbury in reply never really threatened to take the game on and they finished at 9 for 106 off the 40 overs. Nathan 'Quality bowler' Butterworth and Trent 'Golliwog' LeRossignol took two wickets a piece and the rest of the poles were shared amongst the bowlers.

Thanks to the Westbury ground staff for treatng us to a brilliant early October wicket, it really is a credit to the groundsmen and other helpers who put in a lot of time and effort to get it up for us we really appreciated it and felt quite lucky to get on turf nice and early as I'm sure no other grounds are near being up yet.
